HAINBACH

HAINBACH

Hainbach

Hainbach – Stefan Paul Goetsch, a German electroacoustic composer based in Berlin. In his live sets and recordings, he takes listeners on a unique journey to the very roots of sound, using esoteric synthesizers, testing equipment, and magnetic tape. He shares his experimental music-making techniques on his YouTube channel, which has gathered over 200,000 subscribers and more than 20 million views. His portfolio encompasses film scores, pop productions, music for theatre, sound installations, and custom-made music software.

Hainbach literally repurposes the technical leftovers of the 20th century, such as military testing equipment and obsolete lab devices, transforming them into sheer sonic poetry. For years, in his work, he has explored the intricate relationship between technology and power. His music is a form of auditory technological archaeology, raising many unsettling questions: Who controls sound? Who shapes its language? What is left of machines when they no longer serve ideology?

When paired with Page of Madness – a Japanese film deconstructing the psychiatric hospital as a form of control over the body and mind – this dialogue becomes even more intense and urgent.
