Gaba Kulka
Her music career began in 2006, with the premiere of self-recorded and self-published album “Out”. But her breakthrough moment came with “Hat, Rabbit” which premiered three years later. The record not only allowed Gaba Kulka to reach a wider audience, but also garnered enthusiastic reviews in the press. Awards followed: a nomination for Paszport Polityki, the “Mateusz” award from Polish Radio 3, and a gold record certification. Music critics were also quick to shower Kulka with flattering comparisons to Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, and – probably most frequently – Kate Bush.
Such a warm reception can straight to your head, but the artist did not rest on her laurels. On the contrary, having found success as a solo artist, she dove into various musical collaborations. 2009 saw the premiere of “Sleepwalk,” her duet with Konrad Kucz from Futro. Then she tackled the songs of Wojciech Młynarski and the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. She has worked with Hey, Czesław Mozil, and Smolik, among others. Which is why fans had to wait until 2014 for her next solo album. “The Escapist” got great reviews, and songs such as “Wielkie wrażenie” showed that Gaba had also grown as a lyricist. Two years later, she released her next album, “Kruche,” which was also received very well.
The festival will conclude with a screening of the 1928 Hollywood film “Patsy,” with a live performance by Gaba Kulka and her band.
