Kosmonauci
In their own words, Kosmonauci describe themselves as a jazz boy band. Indeed, when on stage, they exude a certain roguish charm. Originating from Bielsko-Biała, a group of four musicians in their twenties, now living in Berlin and Katowice, represents one of the most promising bands in the new wave of Polish jazz, known for its uncompromising and even audacious approach to breaking genre boundaries. Their debut album Sorry nie tu from 2024 was the first one in the series U Jazz Me under the well-known Polish electronic music label U Know Me Records, which is hardly a coincidence, as the band’s inspirations, in addition to the tradition of jazz improvisation, also include hip-hop and the broken rhythms characteristic of British club music from the turn of the century. The vinyl version of this album sold out even before its official release. In 2024, the band also won Gazeta Wyborcza’s Sanki award for the most appealing new Polish artist. The band’s phenomenon goes far beyond the jazz fan community.
Kosmonauci will perform in acts IV-VI of the first part of Dr. Mabuse titled The Gambler. Considering the diversity of their musical energy, one can expect an unconventional interpretation of the events happening on the screen.
