Ovni Trio (Macio Moretti/Bartosz Tyciński/Miłosz Pękala)
OVNI TRIO (Macio Moretti, Bartłomiej Tyciński, Miłosz Pękala) – OVNI is an occasional duo formed back in the 20th century by Bartek Tyciński and Macio Moretti, often mistaken for Mitch & Mitch. The group’s earlier repertoire consisted of quasi-jazz and quasi-improvised pieces with quasi-lo-fi quasi-elements. When OVNI TRIO was joined by the outstanding instrumentalist, Miłosz Pękala, often confused with Crackin' Mitch, it steered more toward a quasi-exotic quasi-adventure.
The band's performance will accompany the screening of The Mystery of Room No. 100 by Aleksander Hertz, the first Polish feature film. The group's participation in the anniversary celebration of the Silent Movie Festival is by no means a coincidence. One of the earliest editions of the festival featured Moretti and Tyciński performing under the name of Mitch & Mitch, in what was one of the most memorable concerts in the festival’s history - soundtracking the film The Lost World (1925) by Harry O. Hoyt. It was one of the group's first big band performances, and it turned out to be so successful that the musicians decided to stick with the larger ensemble. It was at the Iluzjon Cinema that this incredibly vivid musical history started!
