Felix in Hollywood
Sensory music workshop
During the Silent Movie Festival, this unique screening combined with a sensory music workshop will allow participants to step back in time to the golden age of cinema, making them feel like they are the co-creators of a film's soundtrack. Together with Anna Lugowska and her band, which includes:
Bartosz Ługowski - guitars, samples
Wojciech Sobura – drums
Piotr Wróbel - sousaphone, trombone
artists associated with groups such as the Art of Body Art Theater @sztukaciala and @BrassFederacja will create the sounds for the classic silent animation Felix in Hollywood (1923), directed by Otto Messmer.
In the latest sound setting of Felix in Hollywood, we will hear a whole feast of colors from several instrument families: strings (including saw), brass (including sousaphone, percussion (from snare drum to xylophone), guitars, samples, and a variety of sounds that participants will learn to make during a short workshop.
What to expect?
During the workshop, children and parents alike will be able to:
- Immerse themselves in the magic of film: Watching scenes from Felix in Hollywood together will enable them to learn more about the history of this iconic character.
- Create sounds: Using their own voices as well as elements of mime, they will create a soundtrack to the film, exploring how different sounds influence the way that animation is received.
- Experiment through creativity: Learning all about Foley techniques – the art of creating sound effects for films – will allow kids to unleash their imagination and express their creativity.
- Bond through fun: The workshop offers a fun, shared experience for parents and kids, helping to foster a deeper bond through joint creative activities.
