Hinode Tapes

Hinode Tapes is a trio of musicians, known from their work in other bands and projects, operating at the crossroads of electronic, jazz and experimental music – Piotr "Hatti Vatti" Kaliński (guitar), Jacek Prościński (drums) and Piotr Chęcki (saxophone, sampler, synthesiser). The band's name comes from the Japanese word for sunrise.

Following the release of their second and latest album, Kiki Mori, Hinode Tapes described their style as "extreme minimalism". Their improvised pieces emphasise the materiality of music (with "insect" sounds on the drums, the use of echo and reverb effects) and its existence in a specific space. As a result, Hinode Tape's music evokes a whole range of feelings and emotions in listeners – from serene lethargy and trance-like states to unease. In addition to the jazz and ambient music inspirations, their work also draws from dub and experimental techno music.  The group is less interested in playing structured compositions within a particular genre, however, and focuses more on creating an atmosphere and crafting a unique sonic experience.
