YANA

Performing under the name YANA, Joanna Bieńkowska is an instrumentalist and composer living in Gdańsk, where she studied violin at the Academy of Music. She blends the sounds of piano and strings with analogue synthesisers and electronics, drawing inspiration from nature and her own everyday observations. Her music combines romantic and lyrical qualities with the rawness and imperfections of electronic instruments.

In April 2022, she self-released her debut album Solace, which has since been streamed online over two million times. She composed the scores for two short films by director and cinematographer Marianna Korman – Miło cię poznać (2021) and uRodziny (2022) – and has also collaborated with visual artists, including Malaysian painter Sylvia Ong.

Since 2024, YANA has been a member of OPIA Community – a record label and community hub founded and run by Icelandic producer and multi-instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds. Her latest album, Daydreamer, was released through OPIA in October 2024.
