MACIEJ OBARA QUARTET

MACIEJ OBARA QUARTET

Maciej Obara Quartet

Few Polish musicians have achieved such a prominent position on the European jazz scene as Maciej Obara. The breakthrough for the saxophonist and composer was the invitation to participate in the Take Five: Europe project as that was where he met double bassist Ole Morten Vågan and drummer Gard Nilssen. The quartet they formed at that time was completed by the outstanding pianist, Dominik Wania. The band recorded three albums for the For Tune label, before being invited by Manfred Eicher to join the famous ECM Records label. The resulting albums – Unloved and Three Crowns – have brought the ensemble two Fryderyks, a Koryfeusz award and a BWM Welt Jazz Award.
