WALDEMAR RYCHŁY TRIO
Waldemar Rychły Trio
When Waldemar Rychły founded the Jorgi Quartet with his brother in the 1980s, folk music was generally associated with Polish communist propaganda. Initiatives such as the Rychły brothers’ band proved how harmful such simplifications were and showed how much traditional music has to offer. The Jorgi Quartet has been performing at Polish and foreign festivals for over 30 years, and they have also collaborated with the Gardzienice Centre for Theatre Practices and the Witkacy Theatre in Zakopane, among others. At the festival, this veteran of the Polish folk scene – Waldemar Rychły (guitar, ghungroos) – will perform in a trio with Kuba Majda (clarinet) and Dominika Dołżyńska (violin).
