Even with a history of performing on stage dating back over ten years, kIRk continue to evolve. The trio used to play music closer to bass, hip-hop and jazz, or the experimental electronica of Coil or Demdike Stare. But what remains unchanged is their rough sound, their penchant for improvisation, and the sombre, almost unreal, mood of their music. The band's instrumentals are distinctive, juxtaposing a mass of electronic effects and beats (Paweł Bartnik) with clean trumpet sounds (Olgierd Dokalski). The line-up is complemented by Antonina Nowacka - a vocalist who likes to use her voice as an instrument, exploring religious, ancient or operatic songs. klRk released a very well-received album last year entitled Ich dzikie serca, which was brimming with cosmic themes and effects from the world of science fiction. That is why the band will perform the music for the film Filibus, whose main character travels in a technologically-advanced airship. (JB)
