Michał Jacaszek is one of the most universally recognised Polish electronic and neoclassical music composers. His breakthrough came in 2008 with his album Treny, a perfect balance between string instrumentation and ambient music. Since then, Jacaszek has released avant-garde pieces drawing on the music of Olivier Messiaen (Catalogue des Arbres) and also songs rooted in the tradition of 17th-century metaphysical poetry (Kwiaty), among others. He has collaborated with Tomasz Budzyński, Mikołaj Trzaska and the Vocal Varshe vocal trio, with his albums being released not only in Poland, but also in Scandinavia, Great Britain and the United States. Also a film composer, Michał Jacaszek will perform together with pianist Ignacy Wiśniewski during the Silent Movie Festival. Together, they will perform the music for the American drama Behind the Door. (JB)
