Stefan Wesołowski

A composer and violinist from Gdańsk, Stefan Wesołowski has made three solo albums and also collaborated with Piotr Kaliński on Nanook of the North (2018). His album Rite of the End was named best album of 2017 in a Gazeta Wyborcza poll. "If Wesołowski had lived in the 19th century, today he would be on the pages of the music history textbooks," concluded Jacek Hawryluk of Polish Radio 2. The composer was also nominated for a Polityka Passport award for the same album. Composing film scores is an important part of Wesołowski's work and he is currently working on the soundtrack for a film about Andrzej Żuławski. During the opening night of the Silent Movie Festival, Wesołowski and his band will present their own original music for the film The Hound of the Baskervilles. (JB)
